Taking back the littoral: US Navy Littoral Combat Ship program updates and more!

Article Abstract:

The US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program in early spring 2006 is on track to produce a new class of 'focused-mission' warships, a fundamentally different approach to naval warfighting. The LCS program will deliver 'sea frames' that will feature rapidly re-configurable, modular-mission packages, customized to suit the special requirements of specific warfare areas and tasks. LCS will revolutionize the way the US Navy thinks about the fleet force structure and posture, war-fighting capability, operational support, and shipbuilding.
