Targeting drug lab chemicals is key to undermining traffickers

Article Abstract:

Law enforcement agencies are increasingly their scrutiny on the supply of precursor chemicals used in the manufacture of illicit drugs, as it represents vulnerability in the supply chain that can be attacked to reduce production. The large and regulated chemical industry provides an invaluable source of intelligence to launch investigations or other operational activities, hence such a licit industry can be used to identify networks and dismantle illicit labs.

French drug traffickers forge fresh connections

Article Abstract:

French drug trafficking groups are forging new international links and their drug trafficking differs significantly in structure and operations to traffic for domestic and distribution. The recent seizers and arrest indicate a rise in ecstasy consumption and localized increases in cracked cocaine, which are encouraging crime groups to seek more direct sources of supply.

New traffickers struggle for control of Mexican drug trade

Article Abstract:

The Mexican drug cartels that were broken by a law enforcement crackdown have started to regroup. The way the traditional cartels are fighting for the control of the Mexican drug trade with new drug traffickers who have emerged to occupy their place are examined.
