Teaching an old dog new tricks?

Article Abstract:

A former US Marine Corps captain who volunteered to serve in Fallujah, Iraq, on an advisor support team nine years after leaving active service found that being reacquainted with the Corps was simultaneously familiar and like walking into a greatly evolved and unfamiliar territory. He lists the Corps' list of leadership traits and principles that collectively, and sometimes painfully, helped him understand his responsibilities as a Marine, a leader and as an advisor.

PSWT: Continuing to evolve and improve

Article Abstract:

The peacetime/wartime support team (PWST) program has proven to be of great value to Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) units before, during and after mobilization. The primary focus of the PWST in a premobilization environment is training to assume site commander and site support responsibilities in the event that a unit is mobilized and members of the inspector-instructor to go, either as part of a mobilized unit or globally sourced individual augmentees.
