Thales team set to trial unmanned aerial vehicle launch and recovery from RN Type 23 frigate

Article Abstract:

Thales UK team are all set to trial the launch and recovery of an organic Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) from a Royal Navy (RN) Type 23 frigate as part of a final phase of maritime trials to be conducted under the Joint UAV Experimentation Programme (JUEP). The trail programme will also include an RN Sea King ASaC Mk 7 airborne surveillance and control helicopter exercise UAV command and control at Level 4.

Sonobuoy technology evolves for shallow-water detection

Article Abstract:

The change in the design of sonobuoys has come a long way from the analogue days to the present high frequency digital ones capable of detecting under water sound even in shallow waters. However, they have to be redeveloped and redesigned regularly for enhanced tracking capabilities.
