The newly unveiled Pentagon Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) 2006 stands as a guidepost for future military applications. It is a reflection of bankable knowledge and policy judgments on the defense ministry's response to political, social and economic changes which take place from time to time, identifies threats a nation will be facing in the future and accordingly defines the appropriate size, structure, organization and equipment of the national armed forces.

US Marine Corps & modernisation attributes

The U.S. Marine Corps, after the 1999 campaign in Former Yugoslavia, was found to be underutilized and underestimated for current and planned missions, it suffers from isolation from Army and Air Force joint operations and it would make a more vital and flexible response with better equipment match-ups.
