The Air Force in facts and figures: Structure of the Force

Article Abstract:

The typical organization chain and the U.S. Air Force's Air and Space Expeditionary Force are described. The Department of Defense (DOD) is a Cabinet agency headed by the Secretary of Defense, the joint Chief of Staff (JCS) constitutes the corporate military leadership of DOD and the Secretary of the Air Force heads the Department of Air Force.

Footholds for the fighting force

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force has perfected its techniques for getting the most out of remote air bases as it lacks forward-bases. Various air bases that help the US and are highly adept at deploying to austere fields and operating there for extended periods are discussed.

Article Abstract:

US Air Force Vice Chief of Staff John W. Handy discussed fighter airplane capabilities, the B-2 bomber, and future electronic warfare in an Apr 2001 address. He emphasized the need to focus on force recruiting, training and retaining.
