The Air Force in the urban fight

Article Abstract:

The Air Force needs to be adaptable to growing urbanization as it is the supporting force for urban operations, and the provider of strategic attack against critical urban targets and the presence over unpatrolled urban areas. The crucial difference in urban environments is the presence of a large number of noncombatants and their properties and hence, force application and discrimination of targets is one of many obstacles that air and space power must contend with.

Tapping information's power: Joint war-fighting goal evident in Air Force's high-tech programs

Article Abstract:

Global Information Grid (GIG) of the Pentagon is expected to combine to a host of service sponsored and Defense Department information gathering and distribution system. Details of the various high-tech programs such as the E-10A Multi-Sensor Command and Control Aircraft, Space-based Radar, Joint Tactical Radio System, Space-based Infrared System High (SBIRS-High) that would be used to gather information are discussed.
