The Army launches an attack-focused doctrine for the joint fight

The transformation of the US Army has led to the publication of two new field manuals that reflect that transformation. The manuals, 'FM 3-0, Operations,' and 'FM 1, The Army,' are discussed.

Army shifts priorities to fix base infrastructure

Article Abstract:

The US Army plans to divert $300 million from its FY 2002 budget to pay for infrastructure repairs at various bases. Of particular concern are repairs to sewers, as well as to heating and air-conditioning systems.

MTMC: The Army's moving force

Article Abstract:

The Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC) takes care of movement of American equipment and supplies to the units fighting wars through delivery routes that are the most cost-effective and reliable. Every phase of unit move from preparation and rail or truck movement to the port to shiploading, sailing time, unloading and delivery are designed to meet the overall plan of the combatant commander. The three-day, around-the-clock operation involving the shiploading of the USNS Yano for delivery of equipment and supplies to the units in the Persian Gulf region is described.
