The Oskoy class MCMV

Article Abstract:

The HNMOS GLOMMA was the last of the Alta class mine countermeasures vessels (MCMVs) built by Kvaerner Mandal for the Royal Norwegian Navy. The HNOMS OKSOY, commissioned on Aug 15, 1994, was part of a series of minehunters and minesweepers. The ALTA and OKSOY class MCMVs were constructed using a strong composite sandwich hull and furnished with high-precision, dynamic positioning system capable of superior accuracy and operability in all weather conditions.

Lean manning concept: "Nansen" class crew close to half the size of a NATO 'standard frigate'

Article Abstract:

Commander S.G. Hallvard Friesland, Commanding Officer HNDMS 'Fridtjof Nansen', describes the Nansen class of frigate as a multipurpose frigate with excellent sensors and weapon systems for war fighting in air, surface and subsurface dimensions. He reveals that the small crew of 123 is half the size of a NATO standard crew, achieved through the implementation of the 'lean manning' concept.

The "Nansen" class: Backbone of the future Norwegian force

Article Abstract:

Capt (N) Haakon Bruun-Hansen, Maritime Advisor to Joint Force Commander Norway, speaks about the advantages allowed to the Royal Norwegian Navy by the 'Fridtjof Nansen' frigates. He believes this class of frigates would be the backbone of the future Norwegian surface fleet, playing a vital role in all national maritime operations, as also any maritime international commitments of Norway.
