Back to the future: US Army announces IAV winner

The LAV III design has a low-profile turret, several versatile variants and configurations, and can be flown in a C-130 Hercules transport. A total of 2,131 vehicles will be delivered by GM/GDLS, for nearly $4 billion.

COMANCHE terminated

Article Abstract:

The US Army is planning to cancel further research, development and planned purchases of the RAH-66 COMANCHE armed reconnaissance helicopter. The termination of COMANCHE should be assessed in the overall framework of a review process, which is to bring about a truly radical rewriting of the existing Army Aviation Modernization Plan (AAMP).

The US Army/US Air Force Joint Light Cargo Aircraft programme: Project of faith

Article Abstract:

The US Army and USAF on March 17, 2006 announced that the two services would participate together to develop and procure a joint light cargo aircraft (JCA) to be managed by a Joint Programme Office (JPO). The JCA would be a fixed-wing light transport aircraft capable of performing rapid-response short-range intra-theatre missions with cargo, equipment and soldiers, and medevac duties, airdrop operations, humanitarian assistance and missions in support of Homeland Security.
