The challenges ahead for the new administration

Article Abstract:

Among the many tasks faced by the new administration are: deploying more navy ships; recapitalization of the fleet; winning higher Defense budgets; and revitalizing the Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine. The various foreign threats to the US include terrorism, North Korea, China, and the ever-fragile Middle East.

The Navy :League can support George W. Bush's plan to strengthen the military by advocating military pay increases, recapitalization of naval equipment, and early development and deployment of a missile defense system.

Rebuilding the U.S. military

President George W. Bush should complete the rebuilding of the Navy by committing to 2 new nuclear aircraft carriers and a thorough recapitalization of the naval aircraft force.
