The deal on contractors

Article Abstract:

The role played by contractors in Iraq is examined and the question of whether the US military has become overly dependent on them is raised. It is argued that good sense lies behind hiring defense contractors who do jobs too menial for the highly trained and valuable U.S. troops and who cost much less to the U.S. taxpayers but the line between jobs appropriate for contractors and jobs that can only be performed by military troops has to be clearly demarcated.
