The renaissance of amphibious warfare

Article Abstract:

Amphibious landing operations, while admitedly unsustainable, is staging a comeback in the form of Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflicts and Contingency and Low Objective Warfare. While an amphibious assault similar to that used in the Falklands War may never agaain be witenessed, amphibious forces continue to be trained by military forces all over the world. These forces has provided very valuable help in Non-combatant Evacuation Operations and Peace-Support Operations.

Evolution of 'smart' naval munitions

Article Abstract:

The line between gun-fired projectiles and missiles is blurring increasingly as new solutions enhance the performance of naval artillery's traditional weaponry. Micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) is a technology that weaponizes interesting but unreliable solutions and the US Navy's CMATD (Corrected Munition Advanced Technology Demonstrator) provides an economic short-cut to a 5 in gun-fired GPS-guided-munition.

Multinational naval programmes in Europe

Article Abstract:

The history of getting multiple nations to agree on weapons systems development and procurement in Europe shows some failures and some successes. The French-Italian frigate program of 2000 is the largest ever attempted.
