The role and tasks of the Bulgarian Armed forces

Article Abstract:

The role and place of the Bulgarian Armed Forces in the overall process of transformation and the national contribution to the process of building of peaceful and secure world are discussed. The balanced security and defence policy aiming at establishing lasting peace and stability on a regional and global scale and the active formation of the security environment are some of the very important conditions to share the responsibilities for consolidation of peace and security and for response to existing and future risks and threats.

Shaping the 21st century Hellenic Armed Forces

Article Abstract:

General Georgios Antonakopoulos, Chief of Hellenic National Defense General Staff, describes about the current status of the defense strategic review and its progress in the implementation of the directives that are required for the Hellenic National Defense Policy up to 2015. Once the defense review is completed, it will have an acceptable level of balance between combat capabilities and the appropriate combat support, together with an effective logistics support capability.

"Think globally, act locally" - The reform of the Bulgarian Armed forces

Vesselin Bliznakov, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria, gives his views on the challenges and the current role of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. He emphasizes the Plan 2015, which transforms the force by building a modern, flexible and up-to-date army, and describes some special programmes that are aimed at contributing to the global war on terrorism.
