To fight another day: improving EW training ranges

Article Abstract:

Improving the aircrew training and experience will help pilots develop skills required in order to deal with modern surface-to-air missile threats. Training ranges are being modified so that the exercises could be as close to reality as possible, employing modern systems and equipment such as IR/UV stimulators and modern threat emitters.

Breathing new life into shipboard EW: US Navy seeks a balance of soft-kill and hard-kill systems

Article Abstract:

The US Navy is developing both soft-kill and hard-kill systems to counter the growing threat of anti-ship cruise missiles (ASCM) to its ships. Soft-kill systems involve electronic countermeasures, while hard-kill systems involve the firing of missiles to intercept ASCMs.
