Transatlantic alliance for TBMD radars

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp and BAE Systems have partnered for a four-month feasibilit study of active-array radars for Theater Ballistic Missile Defense applications. The study will combine aspects of BAE Systems' multi-function electronically scanned adaptive radar, Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surviellance System's Aegis targeting system and the UK Defense Evaluation and Research Agency's active array radar trials.

Pilkington gets Astute ESM mast

Article Abstract:

Pilkington Optronics Ltd of the UK has won a contract to provide the Electronic Support Measures (ESM) masts for the UK Royal Navy's three new Astute-class submarines. The company earlier bagged the contract for the submarine's visual system. Both contracts were awarded by BAE Systems, which is the prime contractor for the new submarines. The ESM masts feature Pilkington's non-hull penetrating technology.

DRS improves global name

Article Abstract:

Hengelo, Netherlands-based Hollandse Signaalapparten BV has awarded a $6.4-million contract to Parsippany, NJ-based DRS Technologies Inc to develop the signal processing unit and optical lens assembly for the SIRIUS long-range infrared sear and track system. DRS Technologies will develop the missile electronic systems at the DRS Flight and Safety and Communications unit in Carleton Place, Ontario.
