Type 214 introduces an addition to HDW submarine range

Article Abstract:

Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG's (HDW) new Type 214 submarine involves the latest submarine technology, incorporating that of the Type 209 boat and further enhancements in the Type 212. The new submarine boasts of a fully-integrated fuel cell system, which increases the ship underwater endurance to over two weeks. Other features include an attack periscope, an optronic mast and multipurpose consoles for weapon command and sonar control.

First AH-1Z Super Cobra re-build flies

Article Abstract:

The Bell Helicopter Textron AH-1Z Super Cobra conducted its first flight from the firm's Flight Research Center at Fort Worth, TX, on Dec 7, 2000. The attack helicopter's first flight represents the culmination of four years initial development work and starts an entirely new phase for the H- 1 team. The ZH-1Z, which is claimed to be the most advanced attack helicopter in the world, is part of the US Marine Corp's H-1 Upgrade Program.

Scalp Naval on the launch pad

Article Abstract:

MBDA is expecting to get funding from France's Defence Ministry for a risk-reduction program for its Scalp Naval cruise missile. The missile maker expects to launch the missiles by the end of 2001.
