UAV integrated sensor suite payloads readied for demonstration flights on Global Hawk UAV

Article Abstract:

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) intends to run test flights of the integrated sensor suite payload of the Global Hawk. DARPA director of the high-altitude endurance unmanned aerial vehicle Charles Heber indicated that infrared and electro-optical sensors will be part of the demonstration flights in August 1998. This is the first time that an unmanned aerial vehicle will undergo a survivability exercise. The AN/ALE-50 towed decoy system and radar warning receiver will be integrated into the first survivability payloads.
