MU90 Impact studied for Djimindi

Article Abstract:

Thomson Marconi Sonar Pty Ltd is expected to close a contract for the supply of its MU90 Impact torpedo to the Australian Defense Force in Mar 2000. The contract, also known as Project Djimindi, is aimed at replacing the country's stock of Mk 46 Mod 5A torpedoes with a lightweight anti- submarine warfare torpedo. The projectile will be carried aboard the AP-3C maritime patrol aircraft, the S-70B Seahawk, the SH-2G9A) Super Seasprite helicopters and the Adelaide- and ANZAV-class frigates.

UK Ministry of Defence considers US heavyweight torpedo alternative

Article Abstract:

Acquisition of the US Navy's (USN's) MK 48 ADCAP heavyweight torpedo, as a military off-the-shelf (MOTS), alternative to the upgrade of its existing Spearfish wire-guided heavyweight torpedo inventory was studied by the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD). It was planned that UK were prepared to buy torpedoes from overseas, so long as it retained control over tactical software and homing head design.
