UK makes its PAAMS choices

Article Abstract:

UK has completed system definition of its version of three-country new-generation anti-air warfare system, called Principal Anti-Air Missile System (PAAMS). The finalization clears the path for a full-scale engineering development and initial production contract award. The contract will cover the development and production of PAAMS equipments for three first class ships, plus associated reference systems, with an overall value estimated to be near 1 billion pounds sterling. PAAMS is designed for the UK/French/Italian Common New Generation Frigate, providing area, local area and point air-defense capabilities.
