Integrated combat systems

Article Abstract:

The Navy has developed, fielded and constantly upgraded a number of highly sophisticated, marine integrated combat weapons systems. These include the SPY-1a and SPY-1b Aegis radars, which are linked to four phased array planar antennas that emit electronically controlled beams across a 90- degree field. The Navy's sensor netting, cooperative engagement capability system enables surface ships/aircraft to operate as a single, distributed air-defense network that can transmit fire-control quality radar measurements in real time across an entire force. Other integrated naval combat systems include the theater ballistic missile defense system, mine warfare fleet and SQQ-89 ASW sonar system.
