U.S. Army locks on to rangefinder upgrades

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Army has awarded a $15 million contract to Northrop Grumman Laser Systems division to develop and institute upgrades for the AN/PED-1 Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder (LLDR). The contract would fund LLDR upgrades for all shipments after 2009 as the U.S. Army continues to purchase the system, and in October 2006, Northrop received a $79 million contract to provide nearly 300 LLDRs.
