USAF plans engine upgrade for Pave Hawks

Article Abstract:

The US Air Force in 2006 is preparing to advance the General Electric T700-GE-701C engines by increasing the horsepower of the five Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters from November 2006. The chief contenders are Boeing HH-47 Chinook, Lockheed Martin/Agusta Westland Us101 and Sikorsky HH-92 inspite of the decision on the desired platform would be done after five test s and 141 production helicopters.

UK Harriers to fly until 2018

Article Abstract:

The retirement of the UK's Joint Force Harrier (JFH) force is delayed until 2018 as a hedge against actual and projected delays in the availability of the Lockheed Martin F-35B Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). The slips in the JSF programme is longer than the 12- to 18-month delay that was projected as a result of the extensive weight-saving redesign that is being carried out on the JSF.

New wings for old Orions

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin announced on November 22, 2005, the opening of a new outer-wing production line supporting Orion service-life extension programmes (SLEPs) around the world. The Structural Life Assessment Program (SLAP) has marked the P-3 Orions and revealed that the aircraft was accumulating fatigue damage faster than expected.
