US Army transformation - an update

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Army transformation is a reconfiguration of combat organizations from heavier to light force that will maintain and employ weapons and support items that capitalize on appropriate technologies. The war on terror, which is concentrated in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, predictable directorial changes within the global threat spectrum and federal budget limitations are the challenges faced by the U.S. army transformations.

In the shadow of war and transformation

Article Abstract:

The US Army has increased its self-examination and has faced up to the existence of some major flaws in its system with regard to how it has been handling the twenty-first century threats. The threats and responses to global terrorism, the politics of the Future Combat Systems (FCS) and the observations made at the AUSA 2005 convention and exhibition are discussed.

The US Army has begun a reorganization based on both combat readiness and equipment procurement. The transformation will move the army towards light force dominance with increased flexibility and efficiency.
