US and Russian staffs conduct groundbreaking exercise

Article Abstract:

The Russian and United States (U.S.) military staffs conducted a training exercise called Torgau 2004 at the Russian Combined Arms Academy in Moscow, from 17 May 2004 to 22 May 2004. The exercise represented an important milestone in the evolution of US-Russian military relationship and was aimed at enhancing the abilities of the two countries in working together and promoting better understanding of each other's operational concepts.

The limits of delegation: Hitler, Roosevelt and their senior military advisers

Article Abstract:

Two major leaders, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Adolf Hiter, became increasingly involved in military matters during World War II. However, Roosevelt left many critical military decisions to aides, such as Army Chief of Staff George C. Marshall, while Hitler failed to delegate authority.

The future NATO-Russia military imbalance

Article Abstract:

The conventional armed forces of Russia are in poor shape, but the country's battlefield nuclear forces are vastly superior to NATO's. In the US, President Bush, in 1991, made a decision to discontinue use of battlefield nuclear weapons, and their development has been banned.
