Ukraine restructures arms export controls

Article Abstract:

Ukraine has launched the restructuring of its system that controls the export of arms and dual-use items. The goverment has issued a set of decrees that provides the legal basis for export control operations, and defines the powers of players in the export control mechanism. Ukraine said that the new system imposes more vigilant and security-minded controls on arms exports while maintaining its key position in the international arms market. Defense production accounts for 38% of the former Sovet Union's total industrial output.

Tracing the dynamics of the illicit arms trade

Article Abstract:

The agents who are involved in trafficking illicit arms to state and non-state customers are discussed. The greatest threat associated with the illicit arms trade is the diversion of legal stockpiles known as egrey marketE which refers to state supplies of arms to non-state actors or to prohibited states.
