Unattended Ground Sensors come of age

Article Abstract:

Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS) are advanced, multi-sensor systems used to support various military operations, and especially to provide information access to remote and denied areas in tactical surveillance zones. UGS systems including the Scout modular system and the Terrain Commander surveillance system based on acoustic, seismic, magnetic and IR sensors are used to detect, classify and identify threats like personnel and vehicles.

Emerging sensors technologies for unmanned aircraft systems

Article Abstract:

The emerging sensor technology represents one of the single largest cost items in unmanned aircraft systems. GLOBAL HAWK's RQ-4 Block 10 Integrated Sensor Suite (ISS) represents almost 33% of the aircraft's total cost and with the integration of a multi-int sensor package into the Block 20 model of GLOBAL HAWK, the estimated percentage is expected to rise to 54%.
