Versatility the key to Denmark's evolving Navy

Article Abstract:

Danyard A/S has built The Royal Danish Navy's 14 ships that have been conceptualized, designed and developed under the Danish Naval Material Command's unique, multi-role Standard Flex 300 program. The ships are built from glass reinforced sandwich material. Their platforms measure a standard 54m in length and 9m in beam. They typically displace 320 tons when light light and their full load displacement may surpass more than 500 tons depending on the container fit embarked.

ONR eyes SLICE of the future

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp has presented a three-phase plan to the US Office of Naval Research (ONR) detailing how a revolutionary new hull-form, known as SLICE, could form the basis for a new generation of advanced high-speed military vssels optimized for littoral warfare missions. The company's proposals, which it hopes will attract ONR funding, build upon experience from SLICE advanced technology demonstration trials undertaken since 1997.

Survival by stealth shapes Sweden's Visby corvette

The article presents detailed information on the development of the Royal Swedish Navy's Visby class of corvettes. The first ship of the planned six ship series has been launched and is expected to soon be in trials.
