Article Abstract:

Scandinavian countries such as Norway and Sweden provide some of the best, military submarines, corvettes, air defense systems and warplanes in the World. Their products include the Celsius-Kockums Collins-class of diesel-electric submarines and stealth ships. The JAS-39 Gripen combat aircraft made by Saab Military Aircraft is a fourth generation multi-role fighter plane that incorporates an integrated digital avionics suite. The Nordic defence industry also provides modern airborne early warning and control system and battlefield weapons equipment and systems.

Northern European shakeout

Article Abstract:

The defense industries of the Nordic nations Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden have banded together to ensure their success in the world market. They have started to integrated their military development activities and are contemplating mergers with other European firms because they have realized that they cannot succeed if they act individually. The marketing of defense equipment now requires wide-ranging offsets and long-range export ties with purchasing nations.
