Worldwide reputation - the ships and boats of the German naval industry

Article Abstract:

The Germany shipbuilding industry, which employs more than 100,000 workers, is regarded as one of the technological leaders in the international arena. The country's shipyards, which have a collective turnover of DM10 billion, include large shipyards such as Blohm+Voss GmbH, Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft AG and Thyssen Nordseewerke GmbH, and medium- sized shipwayds such as Abeking & Rasmussen GmbH & Co, Kroger Werft GmbH & Co and Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH & Co KG. Aside from frigates, submarines and corvettes, the German naval industry also offers fast patrol boats, mine countermeasures vessels, and numerous logistic and special-purpose craft.

Project 767 medium landing craft

Article Abstract:

The Project 767 vessel, which is engineered to transport and land troops and different military vehicles on unprepared shores, features a cargo deck that can withstand MV of a maximum weight of 45t per unit. Project 767's hull is welded steel construction, while its principal engines are Cegielski-Sulzer Poland 3X6 ATL 25D diesel that can deliver 1320 kW each at 1000 rpm and drive constant pitch propellers via reduction/reverse gears.

Project 660 guided missile boat

Article Abstract:

The Project 660 guided missile ship, which can be equipped with a gun of up to 76mm fore, can be configured for missions that include interdiction, coastal patrol, command and control, surveillance, fisheries control and pollution control and monitoring. Featuring a displacement hull with single continuous deck, the Project 660 has provisions for the installation of surface-to-air and/or surface-to-surface missiles.
