Experimenting with the entertainment-education strategy in film and video

Article Abstract:

The entertainment-education strategy of filmmaking involves the use of an entertainment format, educational message and social change goal. This strategy was used and experimented on by graduate students at Regent University to produce pro-social films and video recordings. Several films had already been produced by the students focusing on the topics of sexual abuse, abusive relationships, special needs children, AIDS and life-threatening illness. These films provide evidences on how pro-social media can increase awareness of important societal needs.
