Dolby AC-3: longer life for the laserdisc
Article Abstract:
Dolby Laboratories Inc introduced the AC-3 multichannel coding system for use in home laser disc systems. AC-3 is regarded as a big improvement over Dolby Pro Logic, a stereo based surround system. Dolby, however, now finds itself having to avoid making Dolby Pro Logic become obsolete.
