Tape is a high quality medium for the long-term storage of audio information, but many audiophiles are concerned about the capacity of their old recordings to survive more than 20 years on tape. Several audio enthusiasts comment on their tape preservation strategies.

Audio recordings have existed for some 100 years, and a need exists to preserve this audio legacy for future generations. Questions that preservationists must address include what media to use; and, if tape is chosen, what cartridge to use.
