Germany's MB Quart now makes most of its speakers in the US, with German drivers. The Domain D55, at $999, is its top of the line. It is a 41-inch, 2.5-way tower system rated at a peak of 175 watts. It displays excellent sound and is a good value, and comes with a variety of finishes and grilles.

Vandersteen's 1,295/pair 2Ci floor-standing speakers are the firm's latest update of its popular Audio Model 2 line. Although the speakers' low bass performance is less than state-of-the-art, their accurate output and excellent value earn both the 2Ci and the newer 2Ce a recommendation.
