100 Cyclists Are Arrested As Thousands Ride in Protest

Article Abstract:

Thousands of New York City cyclists participated in a "Critical Mass" demonstration, blocking traffic to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling and to also protest the Republican National Convention; police officers that usually tolerate such demonstrations grew impatitient as it continued and arrested several participants.

A federal judge has rejected a request by the National Council of Arab Americans and the Answer Coalition that would have forced New York City to allow protester to use Central Park during the 2004 Republican National Convention.
