Device helps keep D.W.I. offenders and others safe

Article Abstract:

Police departments in the U.S. are beginning to require repeat drunk driving offenders to install a breathalyzer interlock device on their cars. If the device detects alcohol levels above a certain measure, the vehicle will not start. Once underway, the driver then must periodically retest, and pass, or the car honks its horn and flashes its lights. Service garages willing to handle analyzer-equipped vehicles are becoming more widespread. Federal regulations tie transportation aid to the implementation of the interlock program. 32 states have such programs in place.

Realtors and other mobile workers have found technology that allows the peripatetic to turn their automobiles into veritable offices via telematics. Driver-workers can access computers, Global Positioning Systems, wireless communications, voice-activated systems and all professional communications from the dashboard. Mobile office product companies are marketing to millions, and growing of people who work out of their cars. BMW is planning a digital phone controlled by a dashboad display that silences the car radio while operating. A Chrysler owner spent $7000 on his auto hardware and installation. Naturally, the computer, electronics and automobile industries are promoting innovations that will hopefully not be a distraction to drivers.

A General Mills campaign goes mobile as vehicles become rolling peddlers for Reese's Puffs

Article Abstract:

General Mills has started a new advertising campaign which involves the increasingly popular advertising wraps for automobiles. Elementary school teachers in Minneapolis are being paid $250 per month to drive cars wrapped in advertising for Reese's Puff. The new campaign is being handled by Green Light Media.
