'A cardinal of the law': J.J. Robinette was one of the greatest courtroom lawyers

Article Abstract:

Robinette, who died in Nov 1996 at age 90, first distinguished himself by winning an acquittal in 1946 for Evelyn Dick, accused of murdering her husband. Robinette turned to civil litigation after becoming bored with criminal law, and was recognized for his legal scholarship and succinct arguments.

Fighting for the fish

More than 2,000 maritime experts plan to attend The Summit of the Sea from Sep 1-6, 1997, in St. John's, Newfoundland. One of the most important issues on the agenda is the problem of overfishing. The UN estimates that almost 50% of the world's fish stocks have been 'heavily exploited.'

Mercy or murder?

Physician Nancy Morrison has been charged with the murder of Paul Mills, a patient of hers allegedly dying from throat cancer. Her supporters claim that she only reduced life-support devices, a decision the man's family had approved.
