The elections in Australia in 1998 is about over-promising and under-delivering. Many do not want a Goods and Services Tax (GST), but many also cannot trust these politicians. Prime Minister John Howard knows that his tax package cannot be funded, but he promises it any way. Many claim that GST cannot succeed without rasing more taxes. .

A bleak house awaits the nationals

Article Abstract:

The National Party's future may be in jeopardy after its leader, Tim Fischer, and his deputy, John Anderson, decided to resign their respective positions. These developments may be good news for the One Nation Party supporters, and many expect the National Party to eventually disappear from Australian politics.
