A laptop design thinks outside the clamshell

Article Abstract:

IBM is introducing its new 'concept' laptop computer called the ThinkPad TransNote. The computer opens like a book and, when closed, looks like a portfolio which measures 13x11x1.3 inches. The left side of the book holds a regular pad of paper and a double-ended ball point and plastic stylus pen. The right side of the book is a computer screen, which can operate folded as a tablet computer but also lifts up, revealing a keyboard underneath. The screen can be lifted, pivoted and even flipped over to face the audience for presentations.
