Agra president's 1998 pay package topped $1-million

Article Abstract:

Agra Inc. President Alexander Taylor has more than C$1 million in his 1998 pay package, based on a recent proxy circular released to Agra shareholders. For the fiscal year ended July 31, 1998, Taylor earned C$450,000 in salary, C$440,000 in bonus, and C$151,945 in other compensation, which includes retirement savings. Agra VP of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations David Paterson clarifies that Taylor, whose bonus is based on the company's earnings, was unable to receive a bonus for the fiscal 1997 when the company posted losses. However, Taylor's 1997 pay package still exceeded C$1.3 million. Calgary, Alberta-based Agra is an engineering and construction firm, with C$30.8 million in earnings for the 1998 fiscal year.
