Article Abstract:

Onex Corp formally presented its acquisition bid for Air Canada on Sep 8, 1999. It could not, however, make its bid official because of the regulatory problems in the US due to the intricate nature of its cash and stock bid. Onex chmn Gerald Schwartz met with Air Canada CEO Robert Milton for the first time since Onex's $1.8 billion bid was announced two weeks ago. Copies of Onex's 127-page offering document was given to each of Air Canada's 13 directors.
