Allelix to merge with NPS Pharmaceuticals

Article Abstract:

NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc, based in Salt Lake City, UT, is merging with Mississauga, Canada-based Allelix Biopharmaceuticals Inc in a deal that was initially valued at $45.5 million but later decreased to $39 million. The deal is a very positive strategic move for Allelix as it combines scientific, market and financial strengths of both companies, according to Allelix Chairman John Evans, who may serve as vice-chairman of the merged entity.

Canadian pharmacy opening U.S. drug centres

The American Drug Club will be launched with 360 service centers aimed at offering low-cost drugs to senior citizens in the U.S. The new pharmacy, which is a spinoff of Canadameds.com, represents a growing trend toward mail order drug firms.
