Sun Microsystems, long a leader in the hardware manufacturing industry, has reaffirmed its committment to a computing future in which the Internet and software are more important than devices. Sun's software will be called Jupiter and is meant to coordinate and automate diverse programs on the Internet. A key component of the Jupiter plan will be the establishment of open-computing standards on the Web.
