At Issue: Are parents, educators and others neglecting the emotional needs of boys?

Article Abstract:

Parents, educators and professionals have been attacked for neglecting or down-playing the emotional needs of boys. Others debate research that suggests boys experience more problems than girls in every category except eating disorders, by citing statistics that claim children displaying emotional difficulties are between one to four percent of the population. It is suggested that most children are influenced by the company they keep.

Boys' Emotional Needs

Article Abstract:

The massacre of high school students in Littleton, Co. by two teenage boys has prompted experts on adolescence to question the nature of boyhood in America. Some experts believe boys are suppressing emotions due to the pressures they experience in adolescence. Boys who shrug off emotions associated with broken families, failures in school or unsuccessful social relations may have pent-up feelings that are ready to explode.
