Atco first Canadian firm to win key business in Iraq rebuilding

Article Abstract:

Atco Ltd. has build 1,400 trailers for use in Iraq in the first major subcontract wrapped by a Canadian firm in the Middle East nation and has quietly made contributions to the reconstruction effort in Iraq. Atco was the only Canadian company to win a key piece of business in the war-battered country while other Canadian companies are looking forward to pick up business in the hundreds of 'B-list' subcontracts that will be awarded by those companies that are leading the reconstruction.

Maureen Bernier and her husband, Paul, high-ranking federal civil servants are spending nearly $190,000 in a search for Northwest Territories (NWT) diamonds. The Deh Cho leaders alleged that Mr. Bernier, vice-president of program delivery for the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, is in a conflict of interest because his wife staked mineral claims along the proposed route of the Mackenzie Valley pipeline.
