A lack of funds hampered the parks' development, and successive administrators were dismissed due to poor maintenance of parks. Congress enacted the Antiquities Act in 1906, authorizing lands to be reserved for parks. James Watt, the Interior secretary during Ronald Reagan's presidency, ensured that steady funding strengthened policies regarding parks.

Article Abstract:

Debates over Hollywood's influence over and role in American society have increased as concerned parents and politicians have begun blaming most social ills on the entertainment industry. Critics point out the Hollywood often ridicules family values and portrays sex and violence as noble endeavours. Others claim that things like gangsta rap only reflect society's ills, and are not responsible for creating them.

Article Abstract:

US waste disposal practices evolved from open-dumping and incineration to the present-day practice of landfilling. Incinerators became unpopular because they were expensive to construct and produced noxious emissions. Product packaging became more sophisticated, further aggravating the disposal problem. Many landfills were closed because of the pollution they caused to surrounding waters.
