Background

Article Abstract:

History showed that the taut, slim body preferred by contemporary women was not always the trend. In fact, three types of women namely: the reproductive type with big bellies, the full-figured buxom ladies and the slim almost androgenic ladies had been identified with and idealized since the 1400.Such trends propagated by the media were the primary factors noted for the incidence of eating disorders. Research on the understanding of these disordershave been undertaken and results show that anorexia and bulimia occur in relation to some psychological problems such as depression and the need for attention.

Background

Article Abstract:

Wilhelm von Roentgen's discovery of x-rays and Henri Becquerel's discovery of radioactivity helped to spur the development of food irradiation as a preservation technique. However, regulations from the Food and Drug Administration during the late 1960s served to discourage interest in the technology. Despite varying obstacles to food irradiation, research continued to determine benefits and costs of using radiation to preserve food. Supporters of the technique feel that food irradiation is the solution to many problems concerning food preservation.

The Indians remain skeptical of government efforts due inpart to 83 years of mismanagement.
