Birth of the Internet

Article Abstract:

The origin of the Internet can be traced back to the development of mechanical calculating machines in the mid-19th century and its roots can be traced back to a 1967 military research project. The way the Internet evolved from its first Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency NET (DARPANET), the Internet precursor, is discussed.

The impact of computers and the Internet on democracy are discussed. The Internet has helped many politicians and organizations to impress people and gain their confidence and the election officials have switched over to electronic voting machines during elections.
