Black says Post to merge with new paper

Article Abstract:

Sun Media Corp.'s The Financial Post was bought by Conrad Black and will be merged with the still-unnamed newspaper that he planned to release. The new national newspaper is set to be launched in October 1998 and will compete with the Globe and Mail across Canada. Black said that his new newspaper, which will make the Financial Post as the business section, will offer subscribers and advertisers a more attractive package deal. Black is nearing the announcement of the new name for the publication, but it is widely rumored in the industry that Black's new newspaper would be called The National Post.
