Article Abstract:

Image analysis is a useful technology in the study of filamentous organisms. It enables researchers to measure and evaluate structures based on electronic images. Image processing improves contrast and enhances details through mathematical algorithms. Among the applications of image analysis are gross morphology and internal structure characterization, analysing pelleted and dispersed growth forms and evaluation of the interaction among morphology, productivity and ambient conditions.
